| Video |
ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW
The video card is an ATI Mobility radeon 7500 32M 4x AGP card. XFree86 4.3.0 supports this card and drives the LCD at 1600x1200 (UXGA) by 24bit, with acceleration and 3D support. The pixels are tiny (it's a 14.1" LCD, so that's about 140dpi) I have 1280x1024x16M in text mode now, by setting "vga=0x31B". |
|
| 10/100 Ethernet |
3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] (rev 120). Works right away. I've clocked rates over 11,000KB/s (86 Mbits) moving files around with gftp. |
|
| 802.11b Wireless Ethernet a.k.a. "Wi-Fi" |
PCI device 14e4:4301 (BROADCOM Corporation) (rev 1). This is a Dell model 1180 Mini-PCI wireless ethernet board. The interface didn't "come right up" and I havn't got it working yet. Apparently it is a PCMCIA card and there's a PCI bridge in there. For now I just do without wireless. |
|
| USB |
Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM USB (Hub #1) (rev 2). Seems to work just fine. This is a USB 1.1 interface. I've tried my digital camera (Canon S230) and a few "keychain" USB drives (which work using SCSI-over-USB). |
|
| Sound |
Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio (rev 2). The sound card is an Intel 810 + AC97 Audio board and RedHat detected it right away, and it sounds pretty good. |
|
| Modem |
Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Modem (rev 2). I havn't tested it yet, since I don't use modems anymore. |
|
| CD RW |
TEAC CD-RW CD-W224E. Works just fine. |
|
| PCMCIA / CardBus |
Texas Instruments PCI1420 (rev 0) CardBus interface appears to be a pair of these bridges. I havn't tested much, but a CompactFlash interface board worked right away. |
|
| Disk |
The original disk was a 40GB Toshiba MK4019GAX. Hdparm reports
transfer rates of roughly 25MB/s. That disk has since died, and it was replaced with a Fujitsu IC25N040ATCS05-0, also a 5400 rpm 40GB 9.5mm "superslim" disk. So-far, so-good. Same transfer rates with hdparm. |
|
| APM and Suspend |
Suspend and resume while in X is totally broken. If you ctrl-alt-f1 to
get to a VT from X, you can hit ctrl-esc to suspend and everything resumes
OK, then alt-f7 to get back to X. Doing this or fn-d from inside X will render the machine in need of a reboot. |
