Blogger lost my blog
Since Google bought Blogger, you now have to convert your blogs to a Google account... fair enough. When I converted my account to my Google account, it promptly lost everything. Real nice! So, here we are, attempt number two. I've resurrected a few posts from the old blog.

Scientology Secret Base
Over christmas I went to try and find a Scientology secret base near Trementina, New Mexico. The base is described in the following articles:

From Las Vegas, New Mexico, head east on NM-104 (mislabeled as "State Highway 65" in the image below) about 70 miles. That will put you at the intersection of highways in the middle-bottom of this image. CR56A intersects at the "5" in "2005" near the Google logo in this picture:
CR56A snakes north then west across this area, and I believe it heads directly to the base.
After maybe 20 miles or so, we were blocked by a gate on a ranch. The ranch sign reads "Romero's" -- with no BLM detail map, I can't tell if this road is still public beyond the gate or not. If it is, I can open the gate, close it behind me and proceed. That'll have to wait for another day.
From this zoomed view, you can see a 6,000 foot long runway, two intersecting circles with diamonds in them, and what I think is a house (directly west of what is labeled "Padilla Canon" on this map).
The following picture was taken from the road. I think it was directly east of the words "Padilla Canon" on the map above, and directly south of the "c" in "Encierto". Either that, or it's in the "C" in "Padilla Canon" -- I'm not sure..

New Bike!
I finally broke down and bought a BMW F650 GS Dakar over labor day weekend. I've been really happy with my KLR 650, but with the 2006 models showing up soon and the only change from 2005 being a price hike, I decided that there's no time like the present.
I picked it up on Saturday the 3rd of September from Northern Colorado BMW/Ducati.
